A group of researchers from the Laboratory of Statistical Research and Data Analysis (LSRDA) of the Mathematics Department at the Faculty of Science and Technology attended the first international Vilnius Conference on Statistics and its Applications (https://www.statistics-vilniusconference.eu/) in Lithuania from 27 to 29 August. The conference was established by renewing the legendary tradition of Vilnius conferences on probability theory and mathematical statistics, which began in 1973.
Professor of the Mathematics Department, SPDAL leading researcher Jānis Valeinis is a member of the conference scientific committee, who spoke in the Nonparametric Statistics section, talking about various applications of the empirical reliability method, which is a widely studied topic among SPDAL. In total, the University of Latvia was represented at the conference with 8 papers, the authors of which were LSRDA researchers Leonora Pahirko and Reinis Alksnis, and J. Valeinis's students - Emīls Siliņš, Sofiia Lukashevych, Ēriks Vilunas, Deivids Jēkabsons and Kristīne Akopjana.
